SCHOOL LIFE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF ANYONE`S LIFE.IN FACT I THINK, THE DAYS I HAD SPENT IN MY SCHOOL WERE THE MOST ENJOYABLE AND HAPPIEST DAYS OF MY LIFE.I WAS LOVED BY ALL OF MY TEACHERS AND FRIENDS.I HAD A JOLLY TIME WITH MY FRIENDS.I WAS THE MASTERMIND OF MANY MISCHIEFS IN THE SCHOOL AND SOMETIMES EVEN GOT GOOD REBUKING FOR MY MISCHIEVOUS ACTS.
I REALISE THAT THOSE GOLDEN DAYS ARE GONE AND GONE FOR EVER...................
Few things stir the nostalgia of our lives as the days we spent in our schools years ago. School days always remain a nostalgia that refuses to leave one's subconscious like an aged ink stain on the shirt. It always returns as pangs of memories about mirth and joy veiled by a distant past. Most of us remember with clarity the children we knew as classmates and the teachers who taught us. And even today, we remember the details of school events and the buildings where we learned our lessons.
When we grow up, we have different lives. However in my opinion school life is the best time we have ever had. During this period we experience emotions, friendship, relationships and most importantly we acquire knowledge. In school we r mostly innocent and carefree unlike these days when our actual expression is veiled by an artificial smile.
I went to K.V Puri as a tiny tot way back in 1992.It was perhaps the most happening and vibrant school in Puri. At first I was too reluctant to go there but within a few days I was convinced that school was a wonderful place as I enjoyed a lot there. Going to school also meant that I a lot of friends of my age group. The teachers in my school were very much committed towards our well being . Primary school teachers set the foundation in a child’s life forever. Looking back, I can remember some teachers who set the tone for me. My first grade teacher, Miss. Sumati Mishra impacted my life the most. She was more to me than just a teacher. She was my friend, a mother figure, and a teacher. This teacher was my friend in many ways. I could talk to her about anything and she would listen. I could always count on her to be there for me. If I was having a bad day, she would try and brighten my day with a smile. While she was around I was always in my comfort zone. There were some other teachers in primary school who were really fabulous. Most prominent of them were Lipika Sen mam and late Mr.Somnath Dalbera Sir. It feels so disheartening that he is not present among us. May his soul rest in peace.
Going to school also meant I had a lot of friends. There is nothing better than belonging to a great group of friends and nothing worse than feeling like an outcast. Fortunately for me I belonged to the first category and had a lot of friends. Those included bawali, jyoti, john, satya, jai, prakash,tk,asim,k.d,nihar, nutan, sagar, tapan,Smarak and the list goes on and on and on…there were many girls in our class too, but in those days we were like sworn enemies , who never saw eye to eye……..it was much much later that we gelled up quite well with them and we still are great friends).During those days I was staying at labanikhia chaka and used to board the school bus at govt girls high school square…we used to do a lot of masti in bus and in school too….It was great fun.In those days we were just fanatic about the PET classes as we'd dash out of the classrooms holdind bat, balls and stumps in hand. With all these masti n all stuffs I passed my class 5….I was the house captain of a Tagore house……And after that I bumped into secondary school…
Here in secy. School we all had to come out of our comfort zone….the joy ride was over.. It was time we learnt many things, our knowledge widened, both in terms of social and academic aspects. We discovered those things which we earlier thought were "mysterious”. There was no room for complacency as with every mistake of ours,we were greeted with some kind of punitive action.Learning was a continual process in the secy school be it about studies or various other things. We developed hobbies and skills through activities. Learning how to work in a group and individually was also important. The teachers here in secy. school were quite different from those we encountered during pry school. Perhaps the most significant difference between primary and secondary teaching is the relationship between teachers and students.
These were the days where our friendship bosomed.. After the school hours got over we quickly gulped down some Tiffin and by the strike of 4.30pm we all would assemble in the field to play cricket. During those days there was not too much burden of studies. So we enjoyed a lot. In that period we were privileged to b taught by some wonderful teachers…..we had Prafulla sir who taught math , Ashok mohanty sir taught us SST , S.K Satapathy sir took English.. Das sir taught science and so on…..they were were fantastic by all standards. Prafulla sir was a genius who knew how to bring the best out of a student. and not to mention about our hounourable principal mam would b a crime….Miss Sati mukherjee….she was just wonderful….The relationship I shared with her was much more than just of a principal and a student….Unfortunately she has also left us for the heavenly abode .We also had quite a fantabulous array of non teaching staffs like A.k singhbabu sir (lib) ,Satya sir(pet), Sinha sir(arts) who were genius in their own fields…Time passed by pretty quickly and within no time we were in class 10.As I entered class 10th one of my best friend ROHIT got transferred to Delhi…..now that was quite disheartening for me as we were quite close 2 each other…as he was staying near our house so we always read 2gether. He was a gem of a friend. A friend on whom I Could rely upon….so for first few days I missed him quite a lot but then I got accustomed.
We entered class 10th with a lot of expectations and buzz around…All my friends including me got serious about our studies,….Our pranks gradually detorieted. And most of the time was devoted to studies…Parent Teacher meeting became a regular affair…..and I remember very well that after every parent teacher meeting I would get a severe dressing down @ home. Soon our date with the destiny came closer and we wrote the exams…on the first day all of us were quite nervous but after seeing the questions our nerves calmed down….and when the exams finished, there was 2 months of utter chaos….All day we would b either roaming around or playing cricket….But as the scheduled date of declaration of results came nearer our heart was filled with anxiety, nervousness fear and excitement…….The D-day came….PUJA had topped the school……My result was kind of ok-ok type…. But then the teachers and my parents were hoping for a much better result. So natuarally it was a dissapointment for all …but then ........life had 2 move on……
I had opted to do my 12th in school itself, but many of my school mates opted for college and we were separated……Swastik went to cuttack and joined J.K.B.K ….He was quite a good frnd of mine and particularly our frequency matched……we cud share a lot of things among us…so naturally when he left k.v I was a bit disappointed…..again some other close frnds like bawali, jai, sagar, jyoti, nutan they all opted for college and though we met in the evening, still I missed them a lot during the school hours….Many new students joined our school….Bolangir boy Debasis Mohanty, Pranay Shukla,Bengali babu chiranjeet ghosh, pretty gal sunita sahoo to name a few….The girls with whom we had a chattis ka aankda were by now quite friendly…..dere was a girl Sameera who was my next door neighbor….nice gurl…by that tym I had known her for the almost 10yrs…we were studying together frm class 1…she was a cheerful gal who mostly remained in her dreams….her best feature is dat she never intended to hurt anyone…we were just frnds till class 10 but now shez one of my closest friend….Dere was another gal Priyanka mishra. She can be best described as Miss Bold and Beatiful. Anything she wud feel lyk sayin she wud tell it upfront…she had a "come whatever may" attitude. She along with Rohit, Swastik ,Sidhharth,Sambit,Sameera were my closest buddies.Sidhharth was quite studious those days and now hez a DOCTOR(The only one frm our batch).
Now during our days in 11th & 12th we had some sensational teachers. There have been many people who have influenced me and those who have set great examples in my life. Many of those people were teachers that I have had from class 1 to the present time. If I had to choose one who has had the greatest influence, it would have to be Mrs. Anupama Mishra. She was our biology teacher. She put much effort and time in teaching biology. There are many reasons as to why she is my favourite teacher, first of all she used keep a tab on all our activities and whenever we were at the wrong side she was always there 2 guide us. Secondly she put a lot of effort in teaching biology. Most of the students felt she was very rigid, a hard nut to crack but if anyone knows her closely then he wil b aware of the fact that how kind, thoughtful and generous she was. I could always count on her to be there at times of distress. I could openly discuss all my problems with her. To sum up she was an excellent and fantabulous teacher.Soon we wrote the 12th board exams and passed out.School-days, I believe r the happiest in the whole span of human existence--- It is in school where we make our 1st frnd,1st crush, compete 2 excel, hope 4 places in sports team, & learn our 1st lessons about life
"recollecting memories of school days is away of holding onto the things u love, the things u r, the things u never want 2 lose".
AS I SEE NOW, ALL OF US HAVE GOT BUSY WITH OUR LIVES, LONG WORKING HOURS, LESS FRNDS, LESS MEETINGS, RARE CALLS,LESS SMS, DON'T HAVE TIME FOR OURSELVES, AT SUCH DAY WHEN I LUK OUTSIDE THE WINDOW N SEE D GOOD OLD MEMORIES FLASH NEARBY N I GET A SMILE WID A TEAR IN MY EYES N I TURN BACK TO MY WORK THINKING I WISH I CUD GO BACK.
